Golf Bag Buying Tips
A golf bag is an essential equipment that one uses to transport all golf accessories such as golf balls, golf clubs, markers, tees and even umbrellas and towels.
Golf bags have no influence whatsoever on the result of the game, however, they can greatly affect the players game by way of offering comfort as the player makes his round through the course.

Nike Club Shoe Tote Golf Bag Black-SilverReviewsBougth this product to store my golf shoes somewhere besides stuffing them in my golf bag. It works well for its intended use and I liked the price. I got it cheaper online then what I found it for in 4 other stores. If you're looking for a basic, but well constructed, shoe tote, I'd recommend this Nike product. It pretty much does what you'd expect and can easily handle a size 13 shoe, for those freakishly large golfers. Average Rating:![]() |

Nike Xtreme Sport Carry BagReviewsI originally bought the bag to start walking courses rather than always taking a cart. As far as carry bags go, I've used it multiple times to walk nine after work and it has help up well. It is a good back for the average golfer. This is a great bag for the recreational golfer. Has a lot of pockets, it's light, and the leg stands work perfectly. I highly recommend it. Average Rating:![]() |

Nike 2010 Tour Cart II Cart BagReviewsFirst, don't get this confuse with the original Tour Cart Bag. I have seen many reviews showing a picture of the Cart Bag II and the reviews are for the original one. They are very different bags. I was in search of a cart bag that would be good for a push cart and a riding cart. I owned a SM Four 5 because I wanted to carry sometimes also. Although the bag was very good, I decided not to carry anymore due to some back problems. Now that I am pushing/riding, I wanted a larger bag with more pockets. For the last few months I researched all the types of bags and read reviews and recommendations. The bag HAD to have a lot of pockets with at least 4 forward facing (I carry a lot of stuff). It had to be somewhat light since pushing a heavy bag uphills is no fun. Also wanted 14 way, full length dividers. I initially bought the Callaway Extreme Cart Bag but returned it after two weeks. It had the 14 way full length dividers but the clubs were hard to get in and out. They would get hung up in material and when you put the woods back in, they would hit something hard and you had to constantly fight them to get them back in. I really wanted to buy the Bennington Quiet Organizer 12 but the price is steep ($250.00) and there is no place to see them. So I finally decided to get the Nike Tour Cart Bag II. The original Tour Bag had some complaints where people said that, on a riding cart, the strap went across the two top side pockets thereby rendering them un-obtainable. The new bag II solved that problem by having a strap slot behind the two pockets so that you can access the pockets easily while on a riding cart. The bag also has 13 pockets, including two fur lined pockets, a putter well, a pen holder slot, 14 way full length dividers and it's fairly lightweight at 7.5 lbs. Two pockets are on the sides of the bags and are more like large sleeves that you can put anything in there. At first, you may not even see these two pockets (they're right above the Nike logos). A few zippered pockets have additional webbing pockets within for addtional separation. It's a very well built, quality bag. Even the towel ring on the side is metal and has a very smoky chrome look to it. Other nice touches are the web pocket on the front top pocket. This is perfect for your cell phone, GPS or a small laser range finder. Also has a small velcro pad for attaching your glove without having to hook it onto the towel ring. Again just a nice touch. The only cons I can see (And I am really nit-picking here) is: Two out of the four pockets on the front are small. The bottom one is large and the top one can hold 12 balls but the other two are small. I carry my rule book, a notebook a small pack of tissues and that just about fits in one pocket. And the two insulated beverage holders are pretty small. You MIGHT be able to get a couple cans and some ice, but that's it. Again, I am really nit-picking. All in all a really nice, quality bag. Very well built and lightweight. It retails for $240 and the stores ell them for $199 but I got it at the Golf Bag Place for $166 and free shipping. Only took a week to get it. Average Rating:![]() |
As to how much load in your gear you are carrying and if you are carrying the bag by yourself or using a golf cart or the help of a caddie, can help you decide which bag is for you.
When planning on riding the golf cart on your rounds, then whether the bag is heavy or not does not matter. But if your plan is to walk, then a lighter bag that will be carried along easily is essential.
Types of golf bags:
1. Staff bags. These are the largest types of golf bags. They can accommodate a complete fourteen set of golf clubs and typically have many side pockets for other golf tools and equipment that one wishes to take along. Almost all professional golfers prefer the staff bags as they can hold a lot of equipment and since their caddy carries the bag for them, weight is never a problem.
A good staff bag is one made of quality leather or materials that are of high quality and are expensive.
2. Cart Bags. Are a lot smaller in size compared to staff bags, but are comparatively bulky and unmanageable for the golfer alone, without the caddy’s help. These bags are constructed for use on golf carts; they have lesser pockets and storage capacity.
3. Carry Bags. The smallest type, and are basically made from plastic, nylon and other materials. As these bags are constructed to accommodate the essentials such as the golf clubs, a few small golf accessories and balls they are the right choice for the golfer who favors to carry his own bag.
Choosing the right bag for you
1. Take into account the price and your budget. How much you can afford can determine what kind of bag as well as what materials they are made of; the more expensive it is, the more complex the features of the bag. Keep in mind however, that the bag is not used directly in your game; golf shoes, clubs and balls are more significant than the bag.
2. Features. Know what type of features you need in your bag and what equipment you need to put in the bag. You might consider a bag that can stand alone to make it easier to take out your golf clubs during your game. You might also consider bringing an umbrella along, so you need a bag with a slot for your umbrella. However, if you are the type to carry only the basic gears, then you might want to consider a simple and light bag that can accommodate just the basics.
